The Michael Mouse book series is a wonderful collection of stories about an adventurous mouse who is always on the lookout for an opportunity to have a great adventure.
Written by Michael Matthews, and with illustrations by Peter Matthews, Michael Mouse's tales are brought to life. Aimed at children 3-7 years old, Michael Mouse books are the perfect bedtime read, with important life messages for kids.
BOOKS
The first story in the series sees Michael Mouse embarking on an escapade with his good friend Cedric, a wise owl who keeps Michael's adventurous spirit in check - while at the same time knowing that the only way to help Michael grow and become more worldly is to let him bump his head occasionally. The story tells of Michael and Cedric's epic trek to find out whether there is any truth to the tale that a pot of gold lies at the end of every rainbow. It's a roller coaster ride from beginning to end as this unlikely pair make their way through often hostile situations, survive a few close encounters, learn a lot about themselves and learn that true wealth is not necessarily measured in riches.

Michael Matthews
Author
Michael is a South African children's author and lawyer, who has been passionate about creative writing for a long time. Michael considers himself fortunate to have been encouraged to read and use his imagination, by his parents, when he was young, and he had already read JRR Tolkien's 'The Hobbit' and 'The Lord of the Rings' three times by the age of twelve.

When he became a grandfather, Michael developed a special interest in well-illustrated children's books in rhyme, especially the writing of Julia Donaldson. This led to the development of his first children's book - 'Michael Mouse and The End Of The Rainbow'. As an author, Michael is determined to impart important life lessons to children, through his writing, which will stand them in good stead when they grow up.
Peter Matthews
Illustrator
Peter is a recognized South African artist and photographer, who has exhibited his work both in South Africa and internationally. In addition to illustrating the Michael Mouse series, Peter is also the illustrator for the Animal Adventures in Africa children’s book series, published in various countries around the world, which is in development as an animated television series.
Peter has produced a paintings for internationally acclaimed feature films, and is a speaker on the subject of Art in Film, to many art institutions, including the D'Arts Society. Peter believes that both art and photography are about seeing and that is only possible when one is present in the moment. These moments are real and spontaneous. His ability to capture life in art has led to his success with the international market in his art.
